ShotPut Studio 1.4 – Reports Just Got an Upgrade

In recent updates, ShotPut Studio has introduced a variety of powerful tools that make searching, comparing, and syncing data a breeze. But this time, we’re doing something different. Instead of adding a brand-new feature, we’ve focused on refining an existing one—an essential tool that many of you have relied on for years. That’s right; in this release, we’re rolling out a major upgrade to our reporting feature, offering enhanced customization and fresh layouts designed to fit your unique workflow needs. Let’s dive into the details!

Tailored Metadata for Every Workflow

No two workflows are the same, and now, neither are your reports. We understand that different crew members need access to different information, so we’ve added the ability to customize the metadata fields in your PDF, TXT, and CSV reports. Whether it’s the editor, the DIT, or the producer, everyone gets the exact data they need, without the clutter. Plus, you can save your metadata selections as templates for future use, making your reporting process even more efficient.

Multiple Layouts for Maximum Flexibility

Just as you can now customize the metadata in your reports, you can also choose from several new PDF layout options to match your reporting style:

  • Thumbnail Focused Reports: Perfect for those who want to focus on visuals, this layout features multiple thumbnail images that can be quickly scanned for a snapshot of the footage. The metadata is still there, but it plays a supporting role, allowing the visuals to take center stage.
  • Metadata Focused Reports: For users who need to dive deep into the data, this layout prioritizes metadata, presenting it alongside a single thumbnail. It’s ideal for those who need to quickly locate files and access detailed information at a glance.
  • Table Reports: With this layout you can quickly locate and view your footage metadata, all broken down by category and displayed in a uniform table.
  • Index Reports: Unlike the other layouts, Structure Reports provide a comprehensive view of your entire drive. This layout displays an expanded structure, giving you a clear snapshot of all the included contents at a glance.

Fine-Tune Your Reports

We’ve added a few finishing touches to ensure your reports are as polished as possible. It starts with the ability to adjust thumbnail image quality, helping to reduce file size or improve clarity. And for those of you burning the midnight oil, we’ve introduced dark mode reports. These reports are not only easier on the eyes during late-night sessions but when paired with the option to change your report accent color, also bring a sleek, modern look to your data presentations. A final addition to step up your reports is the option to apply a LUT to your thumbnails, providing the recipient with a more finished look.

Legacy Reports: Still Here, Still Reliable

We get it—sometimes you just don’t want to mess with a good thing. If the new report options don’t suit your style, you can always stick with the classic legacy reports. They might not have all the new bells and whistles, but they offer the familiarity and simplicity that many users prefer.

We’re very excited about how these enhancements will be put to use. Whether you’re looking to streamline your workflow, enhance your data presentation, or just keep things simple, the latest ShotPut Studio update has you covered.
